Historia pojedynków Leszna z Rybnikiem

Pojedynki Fogo Unii Leszno z ROW Rybnik to starcia legend polskiego żużla. Oba kluby to najbardziej utytułowane zespoły w kraju. Unia Leszno z ROW Rybnikiem spotykała się już w latach 1948-50, lecz wtedy mecze rozgrywano z udziałem trzech zespołów. Drużyna składała się w tamtych czasach z czterech zawodników plus zawodnik rezerwowy. Dotychczas obydwa kluby rozegrały między sobą 77 spotkań. Bilans jest korzystny dla Fogo Unii Leszno (41-4-32). Pierwsze oficjalne spotkanie między “Bykami” i “Rekinami” rozegrano już 1951 roku w Rybniku. Natomiast w Lesznie rok później. Pierwszy raz ROW wygrał w Lesznie w 1956 roku.
Ostatnie zwycięstwo “Rekinów” w Lesznie miało miejsce w 1990 roku.

W obecnym sezonie Fogo Unię Leszno i ROW Rybnik łączy osoba wychowanka klubu z Leszna Damiana Balińskiego. Wieloletniego ulubieńca kibiców Unii Leszno zobaczymy w 78 rocznicę powstania klubu. Popularny “Bally” reprezentował Unię Leszno w latach (1994-2014). W najbliższym meczu Damian Baliński po raz pierwszy w swojej karierze wystąpi przeciwko macierzystemu klubowi.
